Parsons Station

This community was named for early settler Amsley Parsons, and became a rail stop for the Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe line between Weatherford to Cresson and Cleburne which allowed ranchers to expand their cattle market. ┬áThe train was known as the Old Nancy Hanks purportedly after a famous horse belonging to President Lincoln’s mother.

The marker does no longer exist, but the highway signs noting its one-time presence are still along the highway.
